Senior Manager/ DGM – Marketing and Communications

Role and Responsibilities

This is not a Communications role but a comprehensive 360 degree profile requiring pre-dominant experience in Marketing Operations (50%), with supporting experience in Communications (25%) and Social Media (25%)

The person will play a key role in executing the Air Works’ Brand, Marketing & Communications strategy, externally and internally, using industry-specific as well as new-age ideas and programs to broaden conversational scope to support business growth, expand relationships, develop pride and love for the brand and enhance corporate reputation.
The applicant will need to engage closely with the heads of various businesses including delivery champions as well as leaders of affiliate/ support functions across the company, to capture the pulse of the organization for inputs and ideate to effectively leverage Marcom (offline & online) and other Communication channels, media, and assets for brand building. The role requires the applicant to create, maintain, and strengthen partner and other external ecosystem relationships including occasionally engaging with client teams and/or their representatives.

  • Help execute Air Works’ brand strategy including managing the execution of marketing and communication activities – internal & external - for the Company
  • Formulate the marcom calendar (offline & online) with actionable plans (with a digital focus) to deliver on brand and business KPIs
  • Collaborate with business leaders to comprehend business challenges for creating appropriate marketing & communication programs to support Company and business growth
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance Brand visibility and the effectiveness of marketing and communication initiatives across offline and online media
  • Conceptualize programs to enhance internal brand appeal, awareness, and adoption including participation in industry events from time to time
  • Create, review, and edit, branded content for marketing & communication purposes including newsletters, press articles, releases, social media posts, awards
  • Ideate new brand properties over time to improve brand guidelines & ensure relevance of framework
  • Drive awareness and amplification of brand guidelines and communication tools such as Yammer/ others
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns with periodic reviews to analyze performance of various marketing activities/ campaigns for improvements
  • Demonstrate familiarity with digital analytics platforms such as Google Analytics to analyze digital data & draw business ready insights from the same
  • Track competitors and industry influencers
  • Leverage experience of design & graphics for visual comprehension in collateral, events as well as outdoors/ signages
  • Cross-leverage marketing and communication opportunities across multiple media - offline and online
  • Engage, brief, negotiate and collaborate with vendors/ partners for requisite outputs and review their performance/ SLAs periodically
  • Exhibit understanding of B2B marketing, including digital marketing and industry best practices and coordinate with cross functional team and to ensure delivery of work
  • Create management level reports, presentations & delivering presentations as & when required
  • Storyboard or translate communication plans to the creative team of art directors and designers
  • Display understanding of integrating brand core value proposition with various communication channels including digital. Use social media to amplify brand messaging, where possible
  • Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
  • Plan, write, and edit content for a variety of internal communications channels (intranet, newsletters, or regular emails)
  • Ensure that news, achievements, employee experience initiatives, values-based behavior and information on the business are collected and promoted on all internal platforms in suitable formats
  • Support, communication, and execution of townhalls
  • Manage budget and monitor expenses against budget, to deliver against core marketing objectives including overseeing analyst relations, digital and PR activities.
  • A creative eye and a keen interest in design, visualization, creation of attractive newsletters and other communication assets


  • Master’s degree (or PGDM) in Marketing from an accredited institute/ university
  • 10 -15 years of relevant work experience in Marketing and Communications, preferably from B2B and/ or Services industry, with pre-dominant experience in Marketing, supported by Communications.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of digital technologies and marketing channels including latest tools (social, SEO, ORM), website backends, App ecosystem, metrics and measurement techniques. Hands-on experience in digital marketing in B2B will be an added advantage
  • Analytical and creative, with a strong understanding of design language, graphics and printing, as part of marketing and communications team for external and internal audiences.
  • Knowledge of brand and brand management principles together with experience of engaging with advertising, creative, content and PR agencies
  • Strong Events and brand marketing background, to provide effective guidance & leadership to partners with a wide network of vendors for various services
  • Awareness, understanding and exposure of tools to measure Marketing effectiveness will be advantageous
  • Exhibit strong grasp of written and spoken business English. Journalistic or marketing experience will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel as per business requirement

Skills Required

  • Strong fundamentals in Marketing Operations including management of creative agency outputs, Events, and Merchandising
  • Strong understanding of Air Works’ core business and aviation/ aerospace/ defense industry
  • Clear communication skills (verbal and written) reflecting clarity of thought and comprehension together with strong speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate under pressure and tight timelines
  • Ability to improvise in situations with limited budgets
  • Productivity oriented with analytical & problem-solving abilities
  • Confident and energetic having strong interpersonal skills.
  • Possess functional management skills such as Planning, organizing, problem solving, decision making, prioritizing & time management, timely reporting & analytical skills.
  • Relevant work experience of working on brands, managing implementation of communication and brand strategy
  • Creative bent of mind, with ability to generate ideas to drive brand awareness and visibility
  • Cross-functional skills to liaison with both external and internal stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial with experience of working in unstructured environments
  • Self-motivated, with a positive and receptive attitude and open to learning
